THE BRIDE & GROOM

Jessa Jackson

Jessa is 22 years old and from St. Petersburg, Florida. She is currently attending Appalachian State University and works as Assistant Director of Youth Development at the Avery County YMCA.

Rob Cannon

Rob is 22 years old and from Kankakee, Illinois. He works as a Building Code Inspector for Avery County.

OUR LOVE STORY

FIRST TIME WE MET

While they don’t have a picture from the first time they met, Robert and Jessa met at Queen of the Apostles Catholic Church after he and his siblings had received the three initiation sacraments. Their families would sit close together at Masses on Sunadys. It was also at church where Robert officially asked Jessa to be his girlfriend.

OUR FIRST DATE

Beginning their love for board games, Jessa and Robert’s first date was at his house where they played Watch Ya Mouth. The picture above is after they had finished playing because Jessa got a bit grossed out by all the drool.

OUR ENGAGEMENT

Robert had taken the day off work, prepared papers that spelled out “SAY YES”, bought a couple flower bouquets, and drove to Jessa’s work in Avery County. While she was helping clean up the cafeteria after meal time, Robert had snuck in, with help from the staff, and had the children holding the signs and flowers. When she walked in, Robert came out, dropped to one knee, and asked Jessa to marry him.
